Anti Piracy
The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (formerly AP Film Chamber of Commerce) is the apex body for the Telugu Film Industry representing and protecting the interests of Producers, Distributors, Exhibitors and Studios, registered as a Society.
The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce has created an Anti Video Piracy Cell (AVPC) for tackling the IP related issues and Piracy back in 2005.
The AVPC has a separate team of IT professionals and Operations team and helmed by an Honorary Chairman and a governing council to oversee the operations and help evolve strategies for better results. Besides focusing on enforcement,
the AVPC also focuses on gathering intelligence on source pirates, and cam cording cinemas, release groups etc., and also engages with the Government and other stake holders in the Indian Movie Industry to help evolve better policies. As such we have a 360 degree approach to tackle piracy.

1. We carry out the search process manually across internet, based on different keywords, meta tags, and search engine patterns (Google, yahoo ,Bing,MSN,Ask.com)

3. We send take down notices to infringing website contacts, domain registrars,
hosting companies and ISPs for removing content from identified pirate sites.
Deletion of illegal downloads from file sharing sites. Working with internet service providers to remove the content from their hosting servers and websites,
if the website owner doesn't remove/respond for initial requests.
Identifying seeds/uploaders :
Identifying the root source of Piracy is a typical problem in current days. We would be implementing Bit torrent management (BTM) model procedure for detecting seeds, peers and first up-loader.
The system includes identifying the seeds and peers IP addresses, analyzing number of pieces of file shared, percentage of file with seed or peer etc...
Below is how we investigate peer to peer transfer system.
· Searching target websites.
· Connecting to trackers.
· Connecting to peers.
· Performing Bit torrent management BTM analysis.
Investigation:
Anti Video Piracy Cell has been successfully investigating infringing websites and gathered IP address, and other details (physical address location, phone numbers and contact mail ID) of each uploader, moderator and website owners with the help of Cyber Crime Police Department. In some cases we are arresting the uploaders /admin/website owner with the help of Police and shutting down the infringing websites if they don’t respond to our take down notices.
Landscape intelligence:
We have been undertaking to gather landscape intelligence periodically to get a top level view and better insights into the status of Piracy. This includes studying the total number of Pirate web sites affecting Telugu/Indian content their traffic, their hosting countries, Admins, moderators, release groups, linkages, advertising networks, payments gateways, social media presence, and forum activity. Recently we started working with some legitimate OTT platforms and have been gathering a lot of intelligence on the Piracy activity confronted by them and collating the data.
However Pirate OTT platforms and Set top boxes piracy has not been a huge concern for Telugu content. This is one area we are making efforts to focus more in the coming days.
